Sculptress’ Icon
To recreate the urinal (Fountain, 1917), the famous concept work of art by Marcel Duchamp, is an unspectacular idea. Size, dimensions, material, tool marks, curves pressed with the fingers speak a different language than an industrial product created using the technically perfected porcelain casting process as used by Duchamp and which has become an art-historical icon. In contrast to Duchamp's purely intellectual approach, with Sculptress`Icon (2020) the additional inclusion of the handicraft of a female artist is essential.
The auratic object stands on the pedestal. Sculptress`Icon cleverly tries to play around this. The aura of the icon Fountain deceives lying submissively, but remains. A symbol of male intimacy in the communally experienced privy, center of agreements and powerful contracts. One hundred years later, still an issue. It shows that the high-speed pull of modernity of the last century makes us detentive, demands to work off all the new thoughts, ideas, (re)forms. The artist adds almost gymnasial and yet defiantly the own, contemporary point of view - we are also someone nowadays.

Overall
A gender-ambiguous garment was chosen for the work Overall (2019). As a bearer of the artist logo and femininity pictogram, it reflects attitude and philosophy. The workwear character is gender neutral. It is about the potential for activity in the sense of Joseph Beuys' social sculpture. In contrast to Beuys Filzanzug (1970), however, the overall could be worn by everyone and convey a concept in everyday life.

Man at bus stop, waiting
A toy found in Rwanda / Africa recalls artistic positions of modernism - but also Paul McCarthy's BlockHead. In this work, the oversized, inflated, art market-driven pop version of McCarthy is returned to the purist reality of an African wooden toy and a cryptically spiritual Duchamp-esque titling.

Rice Maker
A small room in the 411 Gallery in Hangzhou (China) is painted in stately red and gold tones, the floor designed with stone imitating PVC. On the walls, there are photo prints on plastic film, distorted images of stone lion sculptures. These sculptures can be found in China in front of important buildings as guardians and symbols of power. They shape the urban space, so does the rice cooker. The exuding scent of rice references its use by a broad section of the population.

In the iFICTION video, the camera eye slowly moves along rooms in a furniture store. Throughout the rooms, there are members of a family of five, women and girls, placed in various constellations. They are nearly motionless and are not engaging with one other. Acoustically, they seem as if they are in a submarine. Menacing sonar noises can be heard.

Believe in Art
(family of imperfect objects)
Each of the objects couldn‘t make it to a piece of art by themselves over years. Finally, as a body of work with similar histories, they have joined together as family of imperfect objects. In this paricular museum, they where placed in between the white cube exhibition rooms, in a vacany which proposes freedom of seriousness.

Taklamakan
In the photographic work Taklamakan (2003), the chicks are deliberately not photoshopped into a desert panorama, but the artist herself created the scenery for real in Xinjiang (China). The Taklamakan Desert is one of the driest on earth. The autonomous region of the Uyghurs, persecuted by the Chinese government, is located there. - Each work of art develops not only in front of the planned inner gaze of the artist, but also in an individual way in interaction with reality.

Es gibt doch nur das Leben –

Is it not only life that exists and death not at all
A deserted apartment creates the frame of the video - an apartment that has been formed by collected objects over decades. The history of the inhabitants was inscribed via these objects of various international cultures. Medication lying around, crutches and similar things suggest that a sick person must have lived here, apparently having recently left the apartment and passed away. The observer experiences the identity of this person while moving through the rooms. Fragments of music are reminiscent of the culture and times of when the furniture was created. A continuous rhythm, similar to that of a heartbeat, drifts through the video, although the process of fatigue sets in and at some point there is no hope for further insight. Finally, the observer want to be released.
